Local companies join together to raise funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Tewksbury, MA (December 6, 2010) – Terry Atamian, owner of Atamian Volkswagen & Honda, Inc. in Tewksbury, helped the Massachusetts Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure fight breast cancer during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month by donating a portion of their proceeds to the charity.

Because of Atamian Volkswagen & Honda, Inc. President Terry Atamian’s strong ties with the community, he motivated other local businesses to participate in the fundraising efforts by matching donations. Schlott Tire, Simon’s Service Center and Boutiette’s Auto Body all joined forces to increase awareness throughout the community.

The work of Genesis Fund founder, Dr. Murray Feingold, helped Terry Atamian make the decision to take his charitable efforts to the next level by involving his local community. “Dr. Feingold told me earlier this year that spreading the word about supporting worthy causes to the community would compel others to donate as well.” said Atamian.

Through events like the Komen Massachusetts Race for the Cure®, the Massachusetts Affiliate has invested over $4 million in community breast health programs in the state over the last five years. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Affiliate stays in the state of Massachusetts. The remaining income goes to the national Susan G.
